Call for Statewide Recount of WI Supreme Court Election - The Petition Site
Target: To WI citizens & all citizens in USA concerned with justice
Sponsored by: Buzz Davis, Stoughton, WI - Progressive activist & advocate for candidate JoAnne Kloppenburg
The Actual Petition:
Dear Ms. Kloppenburg:
We, the undersigned, urge you to demand a full, statewide recount of the WI Supreme Court race. It is important to voters in WI and across the United States that the winner of the Supreme Court race won fair and square.
There is too much corruption in our political system. Therefore it is important to us all to know who really did win in Wisconsin. Please demand the state conduct a full, statewide recount of all ballots cast in the April 5, 2011 WI Supreme Court race.
Thank you for running and for demanding the recount as a service to the public!!

Background Informaion:
Target: To WI citizens & all citizens in USA concerned with justice
Sponsored by: Buzz Davis, Stoughton, WI - Progressive activist & advocate for candidate JoAnne Kloppenburg
WI Supreme Court candidate JoAnne Kloppenburg has until close of business on Wednesday, April 20, 2011, to request a statewide, full recount of all ballots cast in the April 5th Supreme Court election.
The race was close. With a total of approximately 1.5 million votes cast, Mr. Prosser, the conservative, pro-business incumbent, is in the lead by less than half of one percent of the vote (0.5%).
The suspicious handling of votes in conservative Waukesha county is one matter of concern to all who fight for fair elections. But the other issue is this: people do make mistakes in filling out their ballots. When a race is this close the only way to determine who absolutely won is to review all ballots cast with human eyes and resolve any disputes over ballots that are questionable.
As a candidate I have been through one recount. As a candidate's representative I have been through another recount. Mistakes happen in completing ballots. When in doubt and in very close races the only way to obtain certainty, as to who won "fair and square," is to conduct a full recount.
Therefore please consider signing this petition to urge Ms. Kloppenburg to demand a statewide recount. Petition results will be provided to Ms. Kloppenburg late Wednesday afternoon, April 20th. Thank you very much!Sign Here - The Petition Site

"Although the heart of Jean Klock Park has been privatized for three holes of a championship golf course, there are unresolved questions regarding federal permits which were issued in order for the golf course development to proceed. Litigation is ongoing, and the federal lawsuit filed in August, 2008, is on appeal in the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Jean Klock Park is located on Lake Michigan’s eastern shore in Benton Harbor, a rustbelt city abandoned by manufacturing and related industries. One significant corporate headquarters persists, however. Whirlpool Corporation, located in an adjoining township, announced the closing of its last manufacturing-related facility in Michigan, which resulted in a loss of 216 jobs. The company continues to move its manufacturing operations to other states and offshore, but the state of Michigan continues to pour money into a development known as Harbor Shores, a golf course “resort” initiated by Whirlpool, whose success is key, according to former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm, “to the future talent recruitment efforts of Whirlpool Corporation.”"

Recall Petitions Being Filed Against Third Wis. GOP State Senator
Another recall effort by Wisconsin Democrats, targeting Republican state senators in reaction to Gov. Scott Walker's anti-public employee union legislation, is coming to a head on Monday, with signatures to be filed against GOP state Sen. Luther Olsen - the third such petition to reach that stage.
"As the Wisconsin State Journal reports, rural Wautoma substitute teacher Ann Schmidt will file 23,000 signatures, far more than the 14,700 minimum needed, though in practice signature efforts often collect an additional buffer against signatures that could be challenged and disqualified for errors."

With the stroke of a pen last month, Gov. Rick Snyder made item-pricing repeal the law of the land - legislation he says will streamline costs for businesses.
"That is really an example of the (Republicans') fear of accountability," said state Rep. Jeff Irwin, an Ann Arbor Democrat. "Anytime the Legislature does something like that, it's a demonstration of the same, that we are doing something we are ashamed of, and we are afraid to face the music."

Dear Friend,
Stand with Democrats against the GOP budget. Sign this petition
We need you in the fight! The extreme budget plan passed by the Republican House would kill Medicare as we know it while giving huge tax breaks to billionaires and corporations. And instead of reducing our national debt, it would actually make it worse!
We’ve seen how radical these Republicans are – they nearly shut down the federal government trying to gut women’s health care and defund the EPA. The GOP budget is an affront to working men and women and an attempt to unravel our nation’s safety net strand by strand. Democrats must stand together and fight back. Will you add your name to our petition and stand in opposition?
The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is fighting every day to defeat these Republican extremists, and this budget shows why protecting our majority is so important. It’s simply unconscionable to create a budget that gives breaks to billionaires and corporations on the backs of seniors, firefighters and teachers. Stand with us against the GOP budget.
Sincerely,
The DSCC

Take action. Stand with Democrats by signing one of our latest petitions:
Stand Against the GOP’s Extreme Budget
The 2012 Republican budget is shocking. Thanks to its giveaways to the wealthy, the Congressional Budget Office estimates that our debt will actually INCREASE under this plan. The Washington Post’s Dana Milbank said: “Ryan’s proposal isn’t a budget. It’s a manifesto for the anti-tax cause.” So much for fiscal responsibility! It’s simply immoral to take crucial health care away from seniors and the most vulnerable among us and use the proceeds to pad corporate pockets – and score political points. Stand against the Republicans against the GOP budget. Sign petition here.
Stand With Wisconsin Workers
Republicans in Washington are trying to balance the national budget on the backs of those who can least afford it. Now in Wisconsin, the GOP is attacking teachers, prison guards and other public employees – the very workers who educate our children and keep all of us safe. It’s unfair, and it must stop.
Sign our petition. Let Democrats in Wisconsin know that we stand with them against the extreme antics of the GOP. Sign petition here.

"The Republican Party of Orange County Chairman Scott Baugh is calling to launch an ethics investigation about the incident, and that he is calling for her resignation. Baugh said, "It's just highly inappropriate, it's a despicable message, it drips with racism and I think she should step down from the committee.
Davenport went on to say that she will not step down but she apologizes to anyone who may have been offended. She insists that "in no way did I even consider the fact he's half black when I sent out the email" and decries the "double standard" that applies to President Barack Obama.
The former chairman of the California Republican Party Michael Schroeder says that this email is Davenport's third strike. He too is calling for her resignation, saying this is her third strike. He says that she has defended the racist actions of two fellow Orange County conservatives on two occasions."

"On the heels of a state election where Republicans picked up a U.S. House seat, took control of both the state House and Senate, and came close to winning a gubernatorial contest, one would think the GOP would have at least a decent shot in the state's 2012 Senate race with a Democrat up for reelection.
That is, unless the state being discussed is Minnesota and that Democrat happens to be Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D).
Klobuchar was elected to her first term in a landslide in 2006, defeating her Republican opponent by 20 points. She heads into 2012 with a very encouraging approval rating, statewide popularity and a notable lack of a formidable Republican challenger on the horizon; all at a time when many Senate Democrats are playing defense across the country.
"Clearly, it's going to be a formidable undertaking. I don't think there is any doubt about that," said Minnesota GOP strategist Gregg Peppin, of the challenge facing Republicans trying to unseat Klobuchar.
One key to Klobuchar's success has been her ability to sound bipartisan while still voting largely on party lines."

Critics say Judge Maryann Sumi deserves ouster, imprisonment, even death - Isthmus | The Daily Page
Held in contempt | Bill Lueders on Thursday 04/14/2011,
"Conservatives from all over, taking their cue from the harsh rhetoric of Wisconsin legislative leaders like Sen. Scott Fitzgerald, have unleashed a torrent of abuse on Dane County Judge Maryann Sumi, who has confounded Gov. Scott Walker's anti-union agenda.
"You should be impeached," declares a letter addressed "Dear Comrade" from Richard McKee of Phoenix, Ariz. "Your alliance with large labor thugs and bullies is treasonous. Your salary should be confiscated, your pension cancelled, and you should be jailed as an enemy of democracy."
Judge Sumi, an Isthmus review found, has drawn more than 70 letters, postcards and emails since March 18. That's when she issued a restraining order against Walker's bill to gut public employee union rights, slash Medicaid payments and tighten his grip over state agencies, saying its passage likely violated the state's Open Meetings Law. She later extended her order indefinitely, until the named defendants show up in court.
The Republicans have responded by attacking Sumi (originally appointed by GOP Gov. Tommy Thompson) as a liberal activist judge and asking the state Supreme Court to rule that the judiciary has no business telling the Legislature what to do (not that the bill was passed legally)."

Missouri Republicans defy voters, vote to block regulation of puppy mills | Eclectablog
"Last fall, the voters approved "Proposition B", a bill that puts stronger regulations on so-called "puppy mills", breeding facilities that prioritize cranking out large numbers of puppies over the welfare of the animals themselves.
Last week, Republicans in the Missouri House of Representatives overturned the will of the voters by passing a bill to reverse the effects of Proposition B." Full Article Here | Eclectablog

"For what it’s worth, polls suggest that the public’s priorities are nothing like those embodied in the Republican budget. Large majorities support higher, not lower, taxes on the wealthy. Large majorities — including a majority of Republicans — also oppose major changes to Medicare. Of course, the poll that matters is the one on Election Day. But that’s all the more reason to make the 2012 election a clear choice between visions.
Which brings me to those calls for a bipartisan solution. Sorry to be cynical, but right now “bipartisan” is usually code for assembling some conservative Democrats and ultraconservative Republicans — all of them with close ties to the wealthy, and many who are wealthy themselves — and having them proclaim that low taxes on high incomes and drastic cuts in social insurance are the only possible solution.
This would be a corrupt, undemocratic way to make decisions about the shape of our society even if those involved really were wise men with a deep grasp of the issues. It’s much worse when many of those at the table are the sort of people who solicit and believe the kind of policy analyses that the Heritage Foundation supplies.
So let’s not be civil. Instead, let’s have a frank discussion of our differences. In particular, if Democrats believe that Republicans are talking cruel nonsense, they should say so — and take their case to the voters.

Wow, what class. And why would he support the end of community organizing? Isn't that what the tea party does, community organizing? By the way, he is being sued by former Agriculture Dept official Shirley Sherrod for defamation and slander which led to her firing. He did this by selective editing of a speech for FOX news.

Paul Ryan's Authoritarian Freakout: Losing Control of Budget Vote, Congressman Screeches 'Shut it Down' | The Nation

Pampered Paul wants a pity party because his traitorous assault on the Medicare of Generations X & Y caustic opposition. Paul Ryan = Generation X Judas.
The Budget Committee chair was desperate to close the vote before any more Democrats could switch from “no” votes to those declarations of “present.” (Sixteen Democrats were finally record as voting “no.” If just two of them had cast mischievous “yes” votes while the rest switched to present, the Republicans would have been stuck with a plan that made drastic cuts to government programs, but that did not so smoothly implement Ryan’s scheme for a further redistribution of the wealth upward.)
“Shut it down!” screeched Ryan. “Shut it down!”
The Wisconsin congressman was determined to stop the voting process immediately.
Big Brother was not about to lose control of the process he had rigged to deliver for his political benefactors.
He needed to prevent a bold act of dissent that exposed his hypocrisy.
And he succeeded.
But not without revealing himself as an authoritarian who was not about to let his best-laid plans be upset by an act of creative rebellion.
Ayn Rand once wrote: “Neither power-lust nor stupidity are good motives.”
Paul Ryan’s power-lust was certainly on display Friday. As for stupidity, well, Ryan certainly thinks that most Americans, and most Republicans, are stupid enough to fall for his power grab.
He’s definitely wrong about the American people; polls show they are overwhelmingly opposed to any plans that assault Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.

How Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder is quietly & intentionally creating more Benton Harbors
How Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder is quietly & intentionally creating more Benton Harbors

“Effectively disbanding their duly-elected government is not, however, the answer …”
"And, waiting on the sidelines like vultures ready to pick over the carcasses of these cities are Snyder and his Emergency Financial Managers (EFMs). They can come in, disband the local government, thereby disenfranchising the local residents, modify or cancel union contracts and use their now-expanded powers to restructure, reconfigure and otherwise refashion the cities in their own vision.
Got some nice public lands on the shores of Lake Michigan or a river, maybe a nice park or nature preserve? Think of the revenue that could be generated by selling or leasing it to your corporate friends for development into a McMansion development or golf course.
Got some development grants coming in to help the community expand services? Think of how those plums can be repurposed to put money in the coffers of your corporate friends.
I'm generally not cynical enough to believe that this is a conservative conspiracy to kill off selected communities and then pick over their bones and divide the spoils among the wealthy victors. But, more and more, as you look at the budget priorities and how they seem aimed at destroying already-vulnerable communities, you really begin to see a pattern developing. And, when you couple that with the enhanced powers of the EFMs, what happened this past week on the shores of Lake Michigan begins to look more and more like Rick Snyder is intentionally working to create more Benton Harbors in the State of Michigan."
