I wasn’t sure what to expect on the sunny and gusty afternoon of Wednesday, October 5, 2011, when I left a lunch meeting in the Wall Street area of Lower Manhattan, New York City. I purposely scheduled the get-together there so I could easily move from the restaurant to Zuccotti Park, on Broadway be...

Thousands of Americans have non-violently occupied Wall St -- an epicentre of global financial power and corruption. They are the latest ray of light in a new movement for social justice that is spreading like wildfire from Madrid to Jerusalem to 146 othe...r cities and counting, but they need our help to succeed.

As working families pay the bill for a financial crisis caused by corrupt elites, the protesters are calling for real democracy, social justice and anti-corruption. But they are under severe pressure from authorities, and some media are dismissing them as fringe groups. If millions of us from across the world stand with them, we'll boost their resolve and show the media and leaders that the protests are part of a massive mainstream movement for change.

This year could be our century's 1968, but to succeed it must be a movement of all citizens, from every walk of life. Click to join the call for real democracy -- a giant live counter of every one of us who signs the petition will be erected in the centre of the occupation in New York, and live webcasted on this web page. Ryan Announces Series of Listening Sessions in October
Invites First District Residents to Hear about Congress’ Efforts to Advance Pro-Growth Economic Reforms

October 11, 2011

WASHINGTON – Wisconsin’s First District Congressman Paul Ryan announced that he will hold a round of listening sessions throughout Southern Wisconsin later in October. Congressman Ryan will be visiting 6 communities over 3 days to speak with residents and discuss solutions that would put the budget on path to balance and the nation on a Path to Prosperity.

In advance of the listening sessions, Congressman Ryan issued the following statement:

These listening sessions provide a great opportunity for me to discuss the major legislative proposals before Congress, answer questions, and address the concerns of First District residents. With the nation’s debt exceeding $14 trillion and job creation virtually stagnant, Wisconsinites remain eager for solutions and hopeful that leaders in Washington will help get our economy back on track.

I have continued to support bipartisan ideas to create jobs and have advanced legislation that shows how the government can balance its budget, strengthen the social safety net, and make our tax code simple, fair and globally competitive. Working together, we can rise to meet our nation’s fiscal and economic challenges and I’m looking forward to speaking with those I serve about how we’ll accomplish this.”

A complete schedule of the upcoming listening sessions follows this release and can be accessed online here.

RoJo claimed we were "disorderly". LMAO ASK THE COPS! We sat down in the lobby and left a path so that the "desirables" who HAD access to the PUBLIC Federal Building could get through. And they did.
As we left, one of the cops told us tat he was glad we chose to do this "the right way". We thanked him right back.
Our tickets were for "Tespassing" In a Public Building. Couldn't even get near his office.
Since I have to look my family in the eye and tell them, "No, I don't have a job yet", I only thought if fair that RoJo look ME in the eye!

The Liberty Plaza "Occu-pie" is 99% cheese, 1% pepperoni, but unfortunately our federal spending pie is 48% war funds that benefit the 1%.

As a reminder that the devastating and criminal wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, and Yemen are fought to secure oil, resources, and markets for Wall St and Western corporations, the Occupy Wall Street Anti-War Committee will confront war profiteers and banks on Wall Street this Saturday.

4:00 pm: Occu-pie Times Square Recruitment Center! Demand that it's time for the people to get a bigger slice of the pie than the Pentagon and corporate profiteers!

We will be joined by thousands in Times Square at 5pm.
