For anyone who's interested in trying to help stop the Voter ID bill, this is what you can do: EMAIL, CALL or VISIT your Senate and Assembly representatives and tell them why they shouldn't vote for this bill. The number one reason? It's not fiscally responsible. We're in a "budget crisis," yet we can spend $6 million to solve a problem that doesn't exist? That doesn't make sense.

"This is something that 80 percent of people agree with," Fitzgerald said. I think this is one of those things that sounds logical the first time you hear it, but as soon as you start looking into it and you consider the different types of people we have voting throughout the state and the general inconvenience it will cause, you can start to see why this is a bad idea.

Wisconsin's bill, according to the Legislative Fiscal Bureau, would cost more than $5.7 million to implement. The measure would require voters to use a driver's license, state ID, military ID, passport, naturalization papers or tribal ID at the polls.
