“We feel compelled to express our discomfort and dismay with the tone and spirit of some of the remarks coming from him,” states the piece, which was obtained by the Bangor Daily News. “Were this an isolated incident and not a pattern, we would bite our collective tongues, because we are all human. But, unfortunately, such is not the case. We feel we must speak out.”

Let's Drop Healthcare Access on One Another, Not Bombs http://bit.ly/gXcQIp

About Donna Smith:
Healthcare reform activist; Appeared in Michael Moore's SiCKO; Founder, American Patients United;
National Co-chair, PDA (Progressive Democrats of America)Healthcare Not Warfare campaign; Community organizer, California Nurses Association/National Nurses Organizing Committee.
Married to Larry Smith, 33 years; mother of six and grandmother to 14.
Graduate, Colorado College, 1985.
Writing is my passion -- mostly political pieces, sometimes human interest.
I belive healthcare is a basic human right. I believe that the American people are champions of basic human rights and that we will win universal healthcare in my lifetime.
My political hero was and is Sen. Tom Daschle (former U.S. Senate majority leader from South Dakota) because of his personal decency to me when I was a constituent. Though I have not always agreed completely with him, and he has made the hugest mistake, he never looked down his nose at any person of lesser station in life. I wish he had fully paid his taxes and that we were engaged together in the fight for healthcare for all.
I was born and raised in suburban Chicago, but have lived in the western U.S, for most of my adult life until returning to Chicago in February 2008 to work for CNA/NNOC. Now I am relocating to Washington, DC, to work more directly on healthcare reform issues.

"Elected himself in a recall election in Milwaukee, Scott Walker's words now seem particularly ironic, as his lapdog Dan Kapanke has had tens of thousands of signatures filed against him to officially be recalled. The grassroots outpouring is the fastest signature trigger to a recall election in Wisconsin history."

Republican #union members turning again the #GOP: "When did we all become evil?" Good question. http://bit.ly/euNPOl #mapoli

"One of the main reasons Republicans are facing a strong backlash over their attempts to bust public-sector unions is that many members of public sector unions are—or at least were—Republicans. As these normally Republican union members hear the candidates for whom they voted attack them viciously and try to take away their collective bargaining rights, they are turning away from Republicans in large numbers."

"Dozens of panlist reminders, two News articles, and a couple of conversations with protesters later, I still have no idea what Wednesday’s “We Are One” rally on the New Haven Green was meant to accomplish. The leaders claimed that there was no political agenda and that they were simply uniting people “hungry for a voice” but an incoherent, inarticulate voice isn’t much better than no voice at all."

US 'concerned' as 150 protesters detained in Russia: Around 150 protesters were detained in Russia late Thursday... http://bit.ly/gpiWzD

"The gatherings were part of the so-called "Strategy 31" marches organized for the last day of every month with 31 days, in reference to Article 31 of the Russian Constitution which allows peaceful demonstrations.

Among the arrested in St. Petersburg was prominent opposition leader Boris Nemtsov.

In St. Petersburg, a police helicopter hovered over the anti-Kremlin protesters, whipping up dust and knocking several people off their feet. In Moscow, hundreds of police packed the city's Triumph Square, the traditional site of protests in the capital, and dragged many demonstrators into police trucks.

Former Gov. Lucey withdraws support from Prosser

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Former Democratic Gov. Patrick Lucey is withdrawing his support for Justice David Prosser for Supreme Court and is throwing it to Assistant Attorney General JoAnne Kloppenburg.

Lucey released a statement to the media Thursday evening saying the campaign has revealed what he called "a disturbing distemper and lack of civility" in Prosser, though he did not cite specifics.

At the same time, Lucey says he has continued to be impressed by Kloppenburg, saying she has shown the proper judicial temperament.

The campaign between the incumbent Prosser and Kloppenburg has been contentious. A public-policy group recently calculated that spending on the race has reached $1.7 million.

Lucey says he has resigned as the honorary co-chairman of Prosser's campaign. A message left at Prosser's campaign was not immediately returned Thursday night.

All 38 Assembly Democrats have fled the state in order to build public awareness about the devastating affects of Governor Walker's proposed budget. We did not take this action without serious deliberation. In the end, we decided that leaving the state was in the best interest of the state that we all love." Nick Milroy
