Janesville - Rock County: Only Heartless Gutless Liars and Cowards Would Cut SeniorCare, BadgerCare
"Nationwide, Republicans and their contribution base chambers of commerce have declared war not just on the middle class and working poor, but on the unemployed and destitute poor as well. Nobody but the worst kind of human beings would do this to the people that depend on these programs. There comes a point even in our compassionate and Christian society where the likes of Walker, Loudenbeck, Wynn, Knilans and August must be shunned and outcast. They're not human - they're animals."

Leonard Cohen - Solidarity Forever (The Union Makes Us Strong)
Uploaded by clemensalexis on Aug 21, 2010
They have taken untold millions that they never toiled to earn
But without our brain and muscle not a single wheel can turn
We will break their haughty power, gain our freedom when we learn that
The union makes us strong
Solidarity Forever, Solidarity Forever, Solidarity Forever
For the union makes us strong
In our hands is placed a power greater than their hoarded gold
Greater than the might of atoms multiplied a thousand-fold
We will give birth a new world from the ashes of the old for
But the union makes us strong
Solidarity Forever, Solidarity Forever, Solidarity Forever
For the union makes us strong
It is we who plowed the prairies, build the cities where they trade
Dug the mines and build the workshops, endless miles of railroad laid
Now we stand outcast and starving 'mid these wonders we have made but
The union makes us strong
Solidarity Forever, Solidarity Forever, Solidarity Forever
For the union makes us strong
When the union's inspiration through the workers blood shall run
There can be no power greater anywhere beneath the sun
Yet what force on Earth is weaker than the feeble strength of one but
The union makes us strong
Solidarity Forever, Solidarity Forever, Solidarity Forever
For the union makes us strong

Protesters flocked to the north tunnel exit of Lansing's capitol, cheering arrested protesters being brought out to the paddy wagon. The wagon was then escorted out, surrounded by protesters. The wagon broke through a crowd of protesters, some fell over, and some ran off. Immediately after 6-8 cops tackle a protester and take him away in a cop car quickly.

Is Wisconsin DOA's credibility now D.O.A.? - Isthmus | The Daily Page
" But what troubles her is the DOA's apparent new role as a purveyor of misinformation seen as helpful to Walker's political agenda. It's put out comically low estimates of protest crowds (a DOA spokesman, asked why his agency's crowd tally last Saturday was so much less than that of Madison police, said the cops may have been "counting people we weren't") and ridiculously inflated claims of the damage to the Capitol caused by protesters.
"We all just roll our eyes," says Hastings of the reaction of DOA employees, at least six of whom retired last week, just ahead of Walker's initial start date for benefit concessions. "They just think there's total lying going on."
On March 3, the agency's top lawyer claimed that protesters caused $7.5 million in damage to the Capitol, mostly to marble from the tape holding on signs and banners. Hastings notes that this claim was "flashed across the country" before being revised downward the next day to as little as $347,000.
On Monday, March 7, after the signs were all removed, DOA spokeswoman Carla Vigue said the agency was bringing in an "outside expert [to] determine the amount and nature of the work that will be needed to be done to bring the marble to its prior condition." On March 9, she said "it may be several days" before this information is in hand.
Now, well more than several days later, no further information has been provided. "Still working on it," said Vigue on Tuesday.
Jacob Arndt has a pretty good idea how much damage to the marble was actually caused: None at all.
Arndt owns Northwestern Masonry and Stone, a Lake Mills-based company that he says "does consultation work and has contracts with the state of Wisconsin." He toured the Capitol early this month with a DOA staffer, inspecting the various types of stone: Kasota-Mankato, Wausau red granite, Dakota red granite, verde jade.
"I looked at each of these types of stones," says Arndt. His conclusion: The painter's tape used to affix signs left "little or no residue" anywhere. The worst problem he saw was some residue where media had taped cords to the floor, but even this was easily removed with simple cleaning agents.
"There's no damage to the stone," says Arndt, who has been back in the building several times since, verifying this finding. He says the DOA official who showed him around agrees even the lower cost estimate is "completely ridiculous and politically inspired."
Hmm, maybe the Wisconsin Department of Administration should consider that — "completely ridiculous and politically inspired" — as its new motto."(see full article)

Who is scoring your kid's tests? Lybian dictator's thats who
From Buzzflash.com
by DAN DIMAGGIO
Last week the New York Times ran a stunning piece about the investments made by the Libyan dictatorship's sovereign wealth fund. According to the article, the fund owns a 3.27 percent stake (valued at $453 million) in Pearson, publishers of the Economist, the Financial Times, and Penguin Books, making it the company's third largest shareholder.
What the Times does not mention is that Pearson is also one of the biggest standardized testing companies in the U.S., touting themselves on their website as "the largest commercial processor of student assessments." They score statewide tests for 30 states, as well as the SATs and ACTs. In fact, Pearson's North American education division is responsible for almost half the company's profits.

US Uncut Adds Verizon and FedEx to its Target List | The Nation
Chris Priest, one of ten people on the board of US Uncut’s national planning committee, tells me that Verizon and FedEx have recently been added to US Uncut’s target list. He also added that there is a larger list of corporate tax dodgers the group plans to release later in the month. Both Verizon and FedEx are multibillion-dollar corporations that pay lower tax rates than you do, and the reason Verizon is able to do this is by creatively redirecting profits to their foreign wireless partner, Vodafone.
