This week, an insignificant market trader and self-proclaimed financial self-help guru, Alessio Rastani, rocketed to stardom after speaking frankly on the BBC about the collapsing market and his plans to make money from it. We Yes Men heard about it right away, because soon after the broadcast, peop...

Occupy Wall Street is leaderless resistance movement with people of many colors, genders and political persuasions. The one thing we all have in common is that We Are The 99% that will no longer tolerate the greed and corruption of the 1%. The original call for this occupation was published by Adbusters in July; since then, many individuals across the country have stepped up to organize this event, such as the people of the NYC General Assembly and US Day of Rage. There'll also be similar occupations in the near future such as October2011 in Freedom Plaza, Washington D.C.

The nature of this struggle is inevitably, unavoidably, indivisibly global. No longer do we have the luxury of thinking that there is such a thing as domestic politics. No longer do we have the lux...

"If the police think we’ll go home just because they’re making things difficult, then the police don’t know how difficult things are at home. I’m eating better here, with all the donations and stuff. Back in 2008, I was so depressed that I wanted to kill myself. The only thing that stopped me was I couldn’t figure out how to do it without hurting my family."

This is happening right now in our country, and around the world. Get to Wall Street, or find an occupation near you at occupytogether.org

‎1) I had brunch on Sunday in Chinatown with a friend who works in local television news. He complained that the Occupy Wall Street people had sent over video that they said showed demonstrators getting maced. It didn’t show any such thing, my friend insisted. After brunch I walked over to occupied Z...Read More Here

What's Behind the Scorn for the Wall Street Protests? | Common Dreams

What's Behind the Scorn for the Wall Street Protests? | Common Dreams
by Glenn Greenwald

"But for those who believe that protests are only worthwhile if they translate into quantifiable impact: the lack of organizational sophistication or messaging efficacy on the part of the Wall Street protest is a reason to support it and get involved in it, not turn one's nose up at it and join in the media demonization. That's what one actually sympathetic to its messaging (rather than pretending to be in order more effectively to discredit it) would do. Anyone who looks at mostly young citizens marching in the street protesting the corruption of Wall Street and the harm it spawns, and decides that what is warranted is mockery and scorn rather than support, is either not seeing things clearly or is motivated by objectives other than the ones being presented." HIGHLIGHTS.......

"In light of occupy philidelphia – I’ve been worked with improptue working group If you want to be part of this new working group, meet us after GA. WE want to talk about spreading movement to other occupied cities. Possible DC march or occupation.

I am going up in the following weeks to help set up occupy Boston. And want to start writing a manifesto if you will for how to set up GA s to plan for occupations. If interested, or any of the committes that are related, I want to speak to you.

Demands:

" We are going to go through a participatory process to develop these demands and visions together. It is very important that all voices are heard and we tried our best to make a process that includes all kinds of people equally. We should look at these demands as a way to include more ideas, not limit ideas, so that more people can find there home in this movement – we acknowledge that some people really want no demands at all. Its important for the sake of this movement to have some demands and visions voiced. But in the process we will continue to record that there are people who what no demands. So this process will include people who do not want demands. This process is important for outreach – so we can invite people from different communities, so we can amplify their demands – so that liberty plaza can become a place to discuss restructuring society. We can add demands as this movement progresses. A lot of people cannot be here – so we will have other ways for people to participate.
