As much as I hoped it wouldn't be the case last November, it appears that Gov. Rick Snyder is nothing more than a velvet-gloved austerity hound hell bent on engineering the dismantling of Michigan's government and economy.

"The right of voting for representatives is the primary right by which other rights are protected. To take away this right is to reduce a man to slavery, for slavery consists in being subject to the will of another, and he that has not a vote in the election of representatives is in this case. "

STEALING AMERICA unveils patterns of anomalies at every level of the electoral process. Controversial partnerships perpetuate a secretive environment, as relevant facts and figures remain hidden from view. As a result, most Americans have no real sense of the threat to free and fair elections. As seemingly unrelated pieces of the puzzle come together, a chilling picture emerges of widespread, artfully crafted "glitches" that, in the final tallies, have the capacity to alter election results.

In Jacksonville mayoral loss, lessons for Florida GOP - St. Petersburg Times

"The liberal organizers who want to keep the American people enslaved by wasteful spending and hideous deficits need to know that they have jumped the gun on 2012 and have awakened a sleeping giant," Duval County Republican chairman Lenny Curry declared this month before handing a $50,000 check to Republican mayoral candidate Mike Hogan. "We're going to send a message that Florida is red."

Republicans better hope Curry is wrong about the race being a harbinger, because an African-American Democrat named Alvin Brown this week was elected mayor of Florida's largest county. Across Florida and the country, stunned Republicans are struggling to understand the narrow upset in conservative northeast Florida."Full Article - St. Petersburg Times

"An unprecedented wave of spontaneous protest is washing across Europe as outraged Spanish protesters seek to export their nascent revolution.

Something incredible is happening in Europe right now: the M-15 movement that was born in Spain last week, with the Democracia Real Ya protests on May 15, is rapidly spreading across the continent as young people everywhere take to the streets to demand real democracy now.

Below are some of the most inspiring videos from the wave of protests that is washing over the continent. Please let me know in a comment if you have any other footage that I could put up. And make sure to find a protest near you and join the global solidarity movement! " Spanish protests spread across Europe — in videos | Reflections on a Revolution ROAR

Gov. Scott Walker says he'll sign a bill that would reshape Wisconsin bass tournament rules.

Kristen Kvool Martin Some of the big beneficiaries of the bass culling bill would be Waukesha County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus and her husband Greg, the owners of Musky Mike’s Bait and Tackle in Okauchee, Wisconsin, and Wisconsin Assembly Representative Joel Kleefisch, who introduced the bill and mentions in his Assembly bio that he is a member of “Musky Mike’s fishing pro-staff”.

"State Rep. Joel Kleefisch has introduced a bill affecting how bass fishing tournaments are regulated in Wisconsin. and one of the big beneficiaries would be Waukesha County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus (yes, that Kathy Nickolaus) and her husband Greg, the owners of Musky Mike’s Bait and Tackle."Article Here

Despite election fraud and vote suppression by the GOP, Big Labor plans to win elections (in their dreams) :: News From Underground

" My friend John Nichols writes glowingly of labor’s “smart” new plan “to build on the protest
and politics model developed in Wisconsin, where mass protests against anti-labor
initiatives signaled an opening for labor to go on the offensive.” Meanwhile, “key unions
will be putting all their political money into state and local races and related projects.”

What this means, John writes, is that the major unions, like the AFL-CIO, are now into “changing the way labor practices politics. And that’s a very good thing.”

Now, John lives in Madison, and reports from there voluminously, so he surely knows way more about Wisconsin politics than I can ever hope to learn. But I do my best to follow what’s been happening there; and I have to say I haven’t seen a shred of evidence that labor in that ravaged state has actually accomplished anything aside from getting creamed by Walker and his goons."

Time to move past Supreme Court election flap

"The Government Accountability Board certified Monday that Justice David Prosser defeated challenger JoAnne Kloppenburg by more than 7,000 votes — only a few hundred less than what the original canvas suggested.

It's time to move on.

Kloppenburg should gracefully concede defeat rather than stubbornly dragging a lost cause into court." Full Article

I have been posting the Brad Blog on all the recall sites. Telling them about organizing to have observers at the polls on election day. I also wrote this org http://wisconsinrecall.net/ and volunteered to be a speaker about the need for election reform, and about taking as many safeguards as we can at these recall elections. Its a great time to start the campaign cry for election reforms and paper and only paper ballots! Is there a way we can train in the observers, unlike those of us who were winging it? I would travel and train for sure....
