Matt Rothschild delivers a sharp, in-your-face reality check, the kind of check that won't bounce. You know, those of us Left of the Democrats were saying way back in March, the labour leadership and the Dems were going to try channeling all that anger and protest energy strictly through the recall elections process. The risk they took in so doing was exactly the mass psychology we now have that Rothschild is talking about.

After a string of defeats, first losing the state supreme court race against David Prosser, then losing the decision at the state supreme court on the anti-collective bargaining law, and finally losing the vote on Walker’s hideous budget in the state legislature, people are down.

Well, I usually respect what Rothschild has to say and his maintaining a (somewhat) independent position from the two-party system. Perhaps the term "demobilized" applies most aptly. I did get a chance to meet, thru the protest process, som...e very energetic young people from Madison and Minneapolis who are pressing on with organizing workers thru the I.W.W., which is a genuine independent labor organization not tied to the Dems. Things like that, we can use more of regardless of how the recalls turn out.See More

    • Bobby Gee I am really eager to see how the unions in the public sector are going to strategize dealing with open shop conditions. Even worse than open shop conditions.
