Savaged: Michigan EFM Outsources Water Treatment to Company Indicted By DOJ For Felony Violations of the Clean Water Act | A2Politico
Business Friendly❢ — Human Beings? Not So Much ...
How can privatizing the water treatment services save a city nearly $3 million in one year? Perhaps it is because Michael Stampfler hired a company that (a) is clearly willing to cut costs without regard to public health, if federal investigators have it right, and (b) because of their reputation, have had to lower their price.

Just some things to think about …
...Questions that come to mind right off the bat are —
Does the Public really maintain the same levels of accountability, oversight, and transparency that the public well-being requires once the responsibilities for public health are outsourced to a private profit corporation?
Given all we know about human mendacity and perfidy in any sphere, what sort of safeguards should we trust more — the invisible hand of private profit governance or the visible hand of public service governance?

State emergency team monitoring protest-related communication and action | Dane101
"Early last year documents uncovered by the Electronic Frontier Foundation through aa open records request from the Federal Government revealed that the Department of Homeland Security had "conducted a threat assessment of local pro- and anti-abortion activists" including Planned Parenthood in Wisconsin. According to the ACLU Madison:
“Without probable cause that a crime is being committed or is about to be committed, police or the federal government don't have the right to snoop on activists,” says Stacy Harbaugh, the community advocate of the Madison-area office of the ACLU of Wisconsin. “Having the feds investigate organizations on both sides of the abortion debate doesn't make us all safer: it simply victimizes more individuals' freedom and privacy rights.”"I'm not surprised. Are you? By end of decade, it will be as if the Police were living right there with you,all the time, in your house, in your car, taking a pee in the bathroom, lounging at the cabin on the lake, watching a high school game in the stands, during your wilderness hike, at the protest, visiting your mum, attending a
WisPolitics Election Blog: Levinson says fraud evidence overwhelming
Several minutes later, Eric McLeod, attorney for the recall committees, said there's no evidence that circulators did anything wrong, and that Levinson was conflating minor discrepancies with fraud.
While there may be false names on the petitions, McLeod said there is no evidence the circulators are the ones who signed that fraudulent signature.
McLeod likened the "irregularities" found in the recent Supreme Court election recount with those in the petitions, and as in that case he said the irregularities do not invalidate the broader result.

Lobbyists Lose to Connecticut Clean Elections | CommonBlog
Though the New York Times article suggests these bills have passed because of democratic majorities in the House and Senate and a democratically-elected governor, Rep. Robert Godfrey said, “If there was ever an illustration of the loss of influence of lobbyists, this is it.”
Credit the Citizens’ Election Commission. Gov. Dan Malloy and 100 percent of other statewide officeholders ran under Connecticut’s public financing program. And 74 percent of the General Assembly – Democrats and Republicans – ran clean. For those of us who lobby at the Capitol, it is clear that legislators are not worrying about campaign money they need to raise from business lobbyists who represent clients that do not like these reforms. And at Common Cause, we are proud of helping to enact, protect and defend this landmark good government reform.

NB. “NPR is among the organizations that receive money from the Gates Foundation.”
But the comments are some of the most astute I've read anywhere.
- Richard T. Rapscallion Jr. It so 'waiting for superman' I can't stand it! I hate monoliths of any kind and I am sure it would be pert near impossible to get Melinda Gates' ear. I don't like putting all my eggs in one basket --be it Gates or the Feds for education. Local control is paramount in a Democracy.
