The GAB Needs An AB
Wisconsin Recount Is A Mess - The GAB Needs It's Own AB Madison Wisconsin -- The Wisconsin Government Accountability Board is treading water regarding the recount of ballots for the Supreme Court
"Don't allow others to draw you into conflict. That may mean that you don't defend yourself from personal attacks. It's safer to ignore them and keep yourself above the fray. When you respond to a harasser in any way, you're letting him know that he has succeeded. No matter how hard it is to do, do not interact with a harasser. When he realizes that he isn't getting a reaction from you, in most cases he'll move on to find an easier target."full article
What is a troll?
"The traditional definition of a troll refers to a member of a community or usenet group who makes posts deliberately designed to attract responses of outrage or indignation. It is the troll's intent to "hook" unsuspecting members into responding, (hence the term "trolling"), thus providing him/her self with the satisfaction of knowing they have impact on others.
A distinction must be made between true trolls, newbies who are undergoing growing pains as they attempt to adjust to community standards, and regular community members who simply have strong but otherwise harmless, dissenting opinions. Trolls should be removed, newcomers assisted, and contributing community members given at least a modicum of respectful distance.
Officials are the founders, hosts, techies, moderators and administrators. Typically they hold true power in the community by establishing the community's purpose, determining the form of presiding government, developing protocols of policy, and having the power to remove users who do not comply with the established standards." To keep a clean public image, Whirlpool funds and largely controls a nonprofit in Benton Harbor called the Cornerstone Alliance, which has a revolving door with Whirlpool and the Whirlpool Foundation for its staff members and employees.
Cornerstone has long served the interests of Whirlpool in Benton Harbor, creating a façade through which the company can pass off its actions as being in the interests of "the community."
"They're an arm of Whirlpool," says Carol Drake of Friends of Jean Klock Park.
Carol has been fighting for the preservation of the historic park against a consortium of developers led by Whirlpool. Her organization has tracked the evolution of developers' plans to seize the public park, which she says have been in the works for decades.
Their current project is called Harbor Shores, a $500 million golf resort to include luxury homes, a water park, high-end condominiums and other similar upscale amenities.

Attempt to Muzzle the Media Part of Drive Toward Fascism
A thousand mile journey starts with (and develops with) a thirty-inch step. This often quoted adage certainly applies to the development of the political features of fascism in the United States. We took another step with the firing of Vivian Schiller, CEO and President of National Public Radio, because an NPR fundraiser make remarks attacking the conservatives. Conservatives in Congress then launched a new campaign to stop federal funding of NPR. The media community was frighteningly quiet with each media organization thinking they may be next. As the man said, fail to learn from history and you will repeat it. We are way down that road.Full Article Here

US Uncut - A Progressive Grassroots Protest Movement
US Uncut Chicago is a local organizing entity for actions and events in the Chicago area, slated in conjunction with other US Uncut groups across the globe.
US Uncut is a "horizontal" movement; actions and events are also planned spontaneously and on our own. Not only are we going to out the large and most egregious tax dodgers, but plan on also taking on the dodgers who turn a profit in our city, county and state, while avoiding taxes on those levels.

"None of us yet has a convincing account of how humanity can get out of this mess. None of our chosen solutions break the atomising, planet-wrecking project. I hope that by laying out the problem I can encourage us to address it more logically, to abandon magical thinking and to recognise the contradictions we confront. But even that could be a tall order."

In the US, thousands of protesters turned out in Wisconsin where the battle over collective bargaining rights rages on.
Wisconsin demonstrators marched two miles through downtown Milwaukee, waving US and Mexican flags and holding signs showing a raised fist in the shape of the state. Similar scenes played out across the nation and around the world, as millions of workers from Havana to Berlin and Istanbul took to the streets.

This is an eloquent, must-read article. "...accolades, honors and successes aren't enough to keep the school off a closure list released by Robert Bobb, the Emergency Manager of Detroit Public Schools. And with the powers granted to him to revive the ailing school district, he might just have his way."
