Hey folks, Jeanne Fraser popped by our page and asked us to show you some support. Here are some of our Michigan posters that you can download and print for free.

This is for Jason White, Laura Gillespie MacIntyre, Margaret Jenkins Colangelo, and our many other Michigan folks.
The Republican Party has really shown its discipline in the last few months. We've seen governors across the country and GOP members of the US House of Representatives work in concert to aggressively move forward on their agenda. I think everyone was surprised at what happened in Wisconsin. And as that rebellious spirit has spread to other states, we've been making posters to support them as well.

Pscholka responds to news of protest at Blossomtime Parade
State Rep. Al Pscholka today made the following full statement with regard to protests that are scheduled to take place at the upcoming Blossomtime Parade in St. Joseph and Benton Harbor: “When I got word that there was a possibility of protestors at th...e Blossomtime Parade, I was deeply disappointed and angered, to say the least. With every indication that the protests will still take place there, I have made the decision not to participate as part of the parade procession. "I am a supporter of free speech. I consider it to be among the most essential founding principles of our nation. Though recent protests regarding Michigan's new Fiscal Accountability Act have been largely spurred by misunderstandings and misinformation, I would be first in line to defend a citizen's right to invoke his or her constitutional liberties. With few exceptions, the protests that have taken place before our state's capitol and in Southwest Michigan have been conducted peacefully and with great respect to the venue. By rule of law, protestors do indeed have the same right to bring their voice to the Blossomtime Parade. "But that doesn't make it appropriate. "To fully appreciate why the Blossomtime parade is the wrong forum for protest, you have to be familiar with the tradition of the event. Since the early 20th century, the festival has served as a celebration of the agricultural community and a bountiful environment. The Blossomtime Parade is about children, families, and a celebration of our rich farm heritage. It is a wholesome community event that our young people have looked forward to all year long. It is truly unfortunate that some groups have decided to send in professional agitators by the bus load to try to create a political sideshow. "Similarly, the attendance of elected officials is not and should not be for the purpose of furthering any personal or political message. Until this year, the only politicians allowed to participate were the Governor of Michigan and mayors of St. Joseph and Benton Harbor. I understand that Governor Snyder will be attending in the traditional capacity as Grand Marshall. I applaud him for visiting our communities and hope he is treated with respect. "My own involvement in the celebration is not new, though it has never before been in the capacity of an elected public official. For 17 years, I have participated in the festival as a volunteer and have had the pleasure of hosting and co-hosting several Blossomtime pageants. Like the countless residents and organizers who appreciate the parade, I do not want to see the experience tarnished by political opportunism and exploitation. "I am saddened that some have chosen a course of action that could spoil a century-old celebration meant for children and families. I look forward to vigorous debate on issues, and welcome it, but Blossomtime should remain the showcase of our young people, our beautiful natural resources, and our agriculture bounty. It is not, in any way, a tasteful forum for political dialogue."See More

Dear _______,

If the _______ Party intends to save itself over the next few years, the people who run for office as _______ will need to start recognizing and acting on these fundamental truths:
1. Office-holders are elected to represent the People.
2. Corporations are not people.
3. Corporations do not have natural rights.
4. Corporations are subject to laws that people make for them.
5. Office-holders are not elected to represent the Corporations.
Thank you, I wish you the best of luck waking up to these truths.

Tony Lagace I think alotta it has got to do with how one comes across though... I think there is a fairly big notion amongst many Americans that corporations (and wealthy) pull the strings-- in abstract though. I mean even the tea party was against corporate welfare in the form of bank bailouts way back when. It's a protracted struggle for sure though, they are tossing around ideas to move us back 100 years...

I've noticed this phenomenon before. People who have the normal amount of decency and honesty either cannot comprehend or cannot tolerate thinking about the kind of evil that lurks in the hearts of *some people*. The engine of a working co...n game is always an irrational expectation in the heart of the mark, but it's the mark's lack of healthy skepticism or previous experience of being burned that fails to put the brakes on the game once it starts running.

Michigan Supreme Court
February 4, 2011 - Court Denies Plaintiff's Leave to Appeal

On Friday, February 4th the Michigan Supreme Court issued a shocking 6 to1 decision that there would be no further review of our leave to appeal and ordered our application be denied. The sole reason given in the Court Order was, “… because we are not persuaded that the questions presented should be reviewed by this Court.” The news wasn’t released until Saturday, February 5, 2011.

We are enormously displeased with the court’s decision and feel that aside from Justice Stephen Markman, the court got it tragically wrong. Obviously Justice Markman agrees with our arguments as in the Court Order he made direct statements in his dissenting opinion in reference to our arguments:

“… I believe that the City’s use of Jean Klock Park, by leasing portions of it for 105 years to a private commercial entity, the Harbor Shores Community Redevelopment, Inc., for its use as a golf course, constitutes a breach of faith … Although the City prevails today, it, and other communities throughout our state, may well come out losers tomorrow as later generations of philanthropists look at the legacy of J. N. and Carrie Klock and come to question the faithfulness of government in upholding their intentions after they too have passed. I respectfully dissent.” – Justice Stephen Markman – For more information | Save Jean Klock Park | website

PETITION LETTER | PLEASE SIGN HERE AND SHARE THIS

Greetings,

Please do not approve the sale and development of Jean Klock Park in Benton Harbor, Michigan.Let it remain as it was intended to be, a place of pristine beauty for all to enjoy.

In a city where the citizens have been through so much and are left with so little, it is unconscionable to allow an Emergency Manager appointed by Governor Rick Snyder to come in and take one of the last things of value and pride in Benton Harbor, and sell it off to developers. In addition, the land has been severely underpriced to the benefit of the wealthy developers trying to obtain it; the land consists of globally rare ecosystems and threatened species; and the land was deeded under the intention that it remain undeveloped and for all to enjoy, forever.

As John Klock said when deeding the land to the citizens of Benton Harbor:
"In taking an inventory of life, we all take stock of the circumstances surrounding the happiest moments. The giving of this park to the city of Benton Harbor has been to Mrs. Klock and myself, the happiest moment of our lives. The deed of this park in the courthouse of St. Joseph will live forever. Perhaps some of you do not own a foot of ground, remember then, that this is your park, it belongs to you. Perhaps some of you have no piano or phonograph, the roll of the water murmuring in calm, roaring in storm, is your music, your piano and music box. The beach is yours, the drive is yours, the dunes are yours, all yours. It is not so much a gift from my wife and myself, it’s a gift from a little child. See to it that the park is the children's.”

Please make sure that his intention is honored and the treasure that is Jean Klock Park remains protected forever.

Thank you.

Canadian elections set stage for intensified class conflict

Canadian elections set stage for intensified class conflict

"The most powerful sections of the Canadian bourgeoisie strongly supported the Conservatives’ drive for a majority government, viewing them as the best vehicle for imposing savage cuts in social spending in the federal budget.

Like its rivals, Canadian big business has responded to the eruption of the greatest crisis of world capitalism since the Great Depression by launching a drive to destroy what remains of the social benefits the working class won through social struggle in the last century.

Chief among big business’ targets is the universal public health insurance system, Medicare. Claiming that the existing public health care system is financially “unsustainable,” big business and its ideological representatives are demanding that responsibility for funding health care be shifted from the state to individuals and their families. Furthermore, in the name of “efficiency,” they are pressing for private, for-profit companies to be given a much greater role in the provision of medical services."
