Koch brothers under attack by leftwing film-maker | World news | The Observer

Robert Greenwald is taking the fight to billionaires David and Charles Koch, who fund much of the US's rightwing politics
"Even for the Lincoln Centre it was an unusual show, and an unscheduled one. Several hundred protesters turned up outside the arts complex on Manhattan's Upper West Side last week for the guerrilla screening of a short film. From a hotel on the other side of the street, a video was projected on to the centre's walls. The unwitting stars of the films were David and Charles Koch, the reclusive rightwing billionaire brothers whose secretive empire and network of influence and funding is emerging as a liberal rallying cause in America."

Koch gift too costly for Florida State - St. Petersburg Times

"Florida State University's economics department needs to reconsider its relationship with billionaire Charles G. Koch, who pledged $1.5 million to the school as long as professors hired with the money hew to Koch's Libertarian philosophy. The arrangement reeks of pandering and undermines academic freedom, the cornerstone of American higher education." Full Article | St. Petersburg Times
Comments:
David Irwin Koch is disgusting, and so is his deal with FSU. I'm ashamed.

Conservatives are invading academic freedom, hiring and curriculum in liberal arts universities, just like they have done with textbooks in public schools , voucher programs, etc.. Education is under siege.! FSU eliminated a e Cultural Imp...erialism course because it was "too liberal"and dismantled Anthropology and the graduate program in Humanities claiming "budget cuts", but we all know it is NOT about the budget but about eliminating liberal thought from a liberal arts campus!Billionaire Koch Brother Has Bought Hiring Rights For FSU's Economics Department

A dean says it would be "irresponsible" not to accept a large donation. A conservative billionaire who opposes government meddling in business has bought a rare commodity: the right to interfere in faculty hiring at a publicly funded university.

The Koch Brothers: Dark Lords of Derivatives - By Yasha Levine - The eXiled
"People don’t seem that interested in talking about Wall Street’s unpunished and ongoing rape of America anymore these days. And that’s too bad. Because Koch Industries has a lot more in common with Wall Street than most people realize."
"Here’s a hint to how deeply the Kochs are involved in the same shady financial machinations we usually associate with Wall Street scammers: an investigation just released by the Center for the Public Interest reveals that the Kochs were major players in the fight against financial regulation in 2009 and 2010, bankrolling an army of lobbyists who swarmed Congress and shredded the fin-reg bill."

Corporate America's State Level Bloodless Coup Against Democracy

Corporate America's State Level Bloodless Coup Against Democracy
"If Republicans like Walker and Snyder are allowed to continue their Nazi tactics by disregarding the will of the voters and the courts, America will become a dictatorship. For two years Republicans in Congress worked tirelessly to circumvent the law and now that they have control of the House, they are snubbing their noses at the voters. They lied to get elected by promising to create jobs, but instead have worked to cut services and jobs as well as repeal laws passed in the last Congress. Americans appear to finally see Republicans for what they really are; power-hungry corporatists who hate the American people and the law. If they are allowed to continue, American democracy will be finished and in its place will be a dictatorship run by corporations and religious leaders who, like Republicans, have no regard for the law or the will of the people. Americans united to fight the Nazi threat in World War II, now they must unite to fight the Republican Nazi threat in America and elect leaders who do not defy the law."Full Article Here

"Koch Industries is owned and controlled by brothers Charles G. Koch and David H. Koch. According to 2009 Forbes rankings, the Koch brothers are tied for ninth richest American, each worth more than George Soros and Google co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page.
In 2000, the EPA fined Koch Industries $30 million for its role in 300 oil spills that resulted in more than three million gallons of crude oil leaking into ponds, lakes, streams and coastal waters.

Cancer Research Before Activism, Billionaire Conservative Donor Says

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — "More than a thousand miles from the labor tumult in Wisconsin — where his name shows up on the signs of protesters and a liberal blogger impersonating him got through to the governor on the phone and said “gotta crush that union!” — the real David H. Koch was greeted rather more warmly here Friday when he officially opened a new cancer research institute bearing his name.

Mr. Koch and his brother Charles, both No. 5 in Forbes’s list of the richest Americans, are targets of liberal activists.
Mr. Koch, a billionaire who is perhaps best known for his family’s contributions to conservative causes, got a standing ovation from scientists, Nobel laureates and politicians of various political stripes as he opened the new David H. Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which he gave $100 million to help build. And in a brief, and rare, interview, Mr. Koch, 70, spoke of his hopes for the new center, his prostate cancer and the prank call heard around the world.
“It’s a case of identity theft,” Mr. Koch said of the call in which the liberal blogger got through to Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin, drew him out about his plans to weaken unions and posted a recording of the call on the Internet, making news and embarrassing the governor. Mr. Koch, whose company, Koch Industries, had given major campaign support to Governor Walker, among other conservative candidates and causes, added, “I didn’t even know his name before this brouhaha erupted.”"
