Anti-racist Decolonizing Working Group for Decolonize Oakland

"The movement, at its best, can be about embodying racial justice ideals in order to make the change we need. We are inspired by histories of resistance to racial injustice and honor these legacies. Interactive theatre, like drama therapy, Theatre of the Oppressed, and Playback Theatre, are powerful tools to help with this process."
"Starting TODAY, Fridays at 6pm on the north side of Oscar Grant Plaza we will be participating in facilitating an interactive theatre workshop for community members who would like to partake in a space for anti-racist community building, working through dynamics with "isms" within the movement, letting off steam, and p...racticing embodying our anti-racist racial justice oriented ideals together. We encourage community members who do or who would like to embody racial justice oriented ideals. We acknowledge that for white activists, this means practicing having the humility and compassion to continually challenge our assumptions, and distortions, and listen deeply to people of color. This space is for people of color and white people and acknowledges that we live in a world that is racially oppressive. For People of Color, this space can be a place to acknowledge the oppressive systems we are impacted by and how those systems manifest in our interactions with our communities, families, partnerships, and ourselves in the narratives and interactions we have about ourselves, our partners, families, friends, and commununity. The movement, at its best, can be about embodying racial justice ideals in order to make the change we need. We are inspired by histories of resistance to racial injustice and honor these legacies. Interactive theatre, like drama therapy, Theatre of the Oppressed, and Playback Theatre, are powerful tools to help with this process." See Status Link Here

Daily Kos: Fearing Protests, Scott Walker Cancels KANSAS Fundraiser

"Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker is fond of describing Wisconsin's 100% home grown, grass roots opposition to his administration's agenda as being organized by "out-of-state agitators." As soon as Walker could, though, he arranged for one of his campaign donors to jump the gun on recalling him so he could begin collecting unlimited campaign cash. That happened just as Walker embarked on a multi-state fundraising tour which was to include a stop in Kansas. So, tell me again, Governor Walker, who exactly is being financed by out-of-state agitators?

Tonight, Kansas labor unions and Occupy Wichita are claiming victory after Walker's planned visit to Wichita next week for a fundraiser with Kansas Governor Sam Brownback was abruptly cancelled. Word is Walker and Brownback feared the massive demonstrations that were being planned to protest Walker's appearance." Read Full Article Here
