On Wednesday night the Wisconsin State Assembly voted to approve legislative and congressional redistricting maps that Representative Fred Kessler called, “the most vicious abuse of partisan power that I have ever seen in the Wisconsin Legislature, and I’ve been here since 1961.” They also passed another bill that alters the process and timeline for local jurisdictions to make their redistricting conform to state maps, and to restrict the venues and process for any challenges to the plans." Assembly aproves GOP redistricting plan | Defend Wisconsin
The Assembly passed the Republican-drawn redistricting plan Tuesday on a 57-40 vote. The proposal, which passed the Senate on Tuesday along party lines, now heads to Gov. Scott Walker. No Republicans addressed the legislation on the floor. “Democracy is literally on life support in Wisconsin, and you want to give it a lethal injection,” said Rep. Mark Pocan, D-Madison.
