GOP eyes budget bill for anti-collective bargaining law | Defend Wisconsin

"GOP leadership says there is a 'possibility' the collective bargaining bill will be inserted into the 2011-2013 state budget. It could be "added as an amendment once it hits the Assembly floor for debate, or a finance committee member could insert it into the bill through a motion before sending it out of committee."

Get ready, protesters. The collective bargaining bill could soon be back before the Legislature.

Andrew Welhouse, a spokesman for Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald, R-Juneau, said Thursday that while the "preferred avenue" for implementing the collective bargaining bill is still the state courts, there is a "possibility" the bill will be inserted into the 2011-2013 state budget.

"There is a possibility, and it has been informally discussed among Republican leadership, including the Joint Finance Committee co-chairs, that if the matter can't be fully decided on by the Supreme Court, then it will be inserted into the full budget," Welhouse told The Capital Times."

Angry meeting in Lake Hallie shows divide over Walker budget

"One woman who identified herself as a teacher praised what she called the “Fab 14,” the 14 Democratic state senators who fled to Illinois in in effort to delay a vote on the budget repair bill.

“You think the 14 people who violated the Constitution and violated their oath of office are fabulous people?” Moulton asked.

“Yeah,” many in the crowd responded, breaking out in sustained applause.

Tuesday’s session broke down so much that 48 minutes into it, Moulton threatened to pull the plug. Substituting a wooden spoon as a gavel, Moulton said: “If we don’t calm down, we will adjourn this meeting.” Moulton had to pound that spoon against a table several times to try to get some order in the listening session. Jeanne Gustafson of Chippewa Falls was greeted with loud applause when she said: “I can bide my time and wait until we can get some recalls in our area.” Full Article | The Chippewa Herald

Experts skeptical state is truly broke

“Wisconsin is Republican broke, but it’s not broke,” said Mordecai Lee, a UW-Milwaukee political science professor. Anyone who's been paying attention knows we aren't really broke. Here is some intelligent analysis of the situation. Perhaps useful if you find yourself in an argument with a Republican.

Voting Irregularities | The BRAD BLOG : Waukesha, WI Follies: 97.63% Turnout in 2004? 20,000 More Votes Than 'Ballots Cast' in 2006?

The BRAD BLOG : Waukesha, WI Follies: 97.63% Turnout in 2004? 20,000 More Votes Than 'Ballots Cast' in 2006?

Waukesha County, Wisconsin's County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus was already known, for some time, to be among the nation's worst elections official. And that's saying quite a bit. But new information being discovered over the past several days suggests she may be even worse than previously known --- which is also saying quite a bit.

We noted last Friday that the stunning 14,000+ "new" votes she announced as having discovered in the state's Supreme Court election from the city of Brookfield last Thursday actually weren't "new" at all. In fact, they were independently reported late on Election Night by Lisa Sink of the Brookfield Patch, exactly as they were eventually included in Nickolaus' final canvass report [XLS].

If anything, as we indicated in the same article, it is perhaps more troubling that the city of Brookfield's numbers didn't change at all from Election Night, suggesting that the ballots have never been examined by any human beings in order to assure the accuracy of the oft-failed, easily-manipulated optical-scanners used to tabulate the paper ballots in Waukesha (and across most of the state.)

"...college-dropout 27-year-olds convicted of two whole drunk driving offenses daddy’s lawyer couldn’t get them out of, they’re prime talent Scott Walker will hire hastily and immediately give a raise. (Of course, it may help if said drunk, Brian Deschane, is the son of a wealthy lobbyist who directed hundreds of thousands of dollars into Walker’s campaign.) But because Walker has other things on his plate, he gave in to pressure over this idiotic hire and demoted Deschane. (Not that the young loser deserves his new job or its $64,728 salary either, mind you."

THE WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING 03/07/2011

THE UWM POST editorial by Dawson Barrett

http://www.uwmpost.com/2011/03/07/the-whole-world-is-watching-wisconsin/(FULL ARTICLE HERE)

"The whole world is watching to see if the billionaire Koch brothers – who have financed Walker, the Tea Party, and the recent rash of pro-Walker commercials – can successfully move in to a state, destroy its middle-class and hand its public assets directly to private corporations (such as Koch Industries).

The fight right now is in Wisconsin. We are the proving ground for whether Koch and others can implement their plan all over the U.S. If we lose, our state, and our country, will offer far fewer opportunities to the next generation than we have to the current one."
