Vodka for voters? No problem, say Assembly Republicans
"The investigations into fraudulent collection of signatures on recall petitions circulated by out-of-state operatives on behalf of the Republican Party of Wisconsin continue. One of the most unsettling of these involves the incident at a Burlington tavern, where someone who was trying to gather signatures on a petition seeking the recall of state Sen. Robert Wirch, D-Kenosha, was taped offering to provide free drinks — shots of vodka — in exchange for signatures.
This is a throwback to the bad old days when political machines used to get votes in return for the promise of free beer.
Wisconsin set a higher standard years ago.
But the out-of-state operatives that the RPW is importing don’t have much respect for the Wisconsin values of clean elections and democratic practices."
