UPDATED: Rep. Al Pscholka WILL chicken out of Benton Harbor parade | Eclectablog
"State Representative Al Pscholka alerted the media yesterday that he will not be in the Blossomtime Parade because of protests scheduled against the Grand Marshal: Governor Rick Snyder. In a press release, Pscholka says he is "deeply disappointed and angered" about the news of protests. He says he supports free speech, and the protesters have a right to be at the parade, but "that doesn't make it appropriate."

Interview: Chris Savage of Eclectablog | You Don’t Know Him Yet. But You Will. | A2Politico

Interview: Chris Savage. You Don’t Know Him Yet. But You Will. | A2Politico
"Chris Savage (pictured left in a photo taken by his wife Anne) and his wife live in Dexter, Michigan. Chris is the voice behind the progressive-leaning Eclectablog. Well, actually, progressive-leaning is putting it mildly. Chris Savage is a guy who thinks Democrats who voted for Rick Snyder are fucking stupid. He posted this comment on A2Politico in response to a recent piece about Ann Arbor Democrats who financially supported Snyder’s candidacy:
“Hey! Where’s the ‘I’m a Democrat who wasn’t stupid enough to vote for a Republican governor’ option??? I told you guys so. I totally did ; )”
Chris posts his writing at The Daily Kos as well as the site Blogging for Michigan. A recent piece he wrote about the “takeover,” as he puts it of Benton Harbor by the State of Michigan’s Emergency Financial Manager Joseph Harris, was picked up by MSNBC political analyst Rachel Maddow. As it turns out, Chris doesn’t only write, he’s a chemist by day, as well as a devoted local food movement supporter, baker and all around writing enthusiast. A2Politico caught up with Chris Savage and got him to slow down long enough to answer a few questions about blogging, politics and, yes, his need for attention." Full Article Here | A2Politico

Blogging For Michigan:: Saugatuck Dunes threatened by a web of Republican influence in Michigan

Blogging For Michigan:: Saugatuck Dunes threatened by a web of Republican influence in Michigan
"Aubrey McClendon appears to have powerful, mostly Republican friends. He is supported by the right-wing think tank, The Mackinac Center. Allegan County Clerk Joyce Watts and her Deputy Clerk Julia Ryan are helping him. He's got Congessman Fred Upton in his corner. Attorney General Bill Schuette is assisting his efforts. A federal judge, Paul Maloney, regularly rules in his favor. Even the head of the MDNRE, Dan Wyatt is weighing in on his behalf.
In the meantime, with these odds and a seemingly endless amount of money stacked against them, Saugatuck Township continues to battle to save the Saugatuck Dunes from the sort of slash and burn development that Aubrey McClendon is well known for. As is often the case, McClendon can lose repeatedly in his efforts and can keep on trying. If the Township loses even once, the Saugatuck Dunes will be forever irreparably impacted to make a very rich man even richer." Full Article Here | Blogging For Michigan

Missouri Republicans defy voters, vote to block regulation of puppy mills | Eclectablog
"Last fall, the voters approved "Proposition B", a bill that puts stronger regulations on so-called "puppy mills", breeding facilities that prioritize cranking out large numbers of puppies over the welfare of the animals themselves.
Last week, Republicans in the Missouri House of Representatives overturned the will of the voters by passing a bill to reverse the effects of Proposition B." Full Article Here | Eclectablog
