Paul Ryan's Authoritarian Freakout: Losing Control of Budget Vote, Congressman Screeches 'Shut it Down' | The Nation

Paul Ryan's Authoritarian Freakout: Losing Control of Budget Vote, Congressman Screeches 'Shut it Down' | The Nation

Posted on Facebook | One Wisconsin Now

Pampered Paul wants a pity party because his traitorous assault on the Medicare of Generations X & Y caustic opposition. Paul Ryan = Generation X Judas.

The Budget Committee chair was desperate to close the vote before any more Democrats could switch from “no” votes to those declarations of “present.” (Sixteen Democrats were finally record as voting “no.” If just two of them had cast mischievous “yes” votes while the rest switched to present, the Republicans would have been stuck with a plan that made drastic cuts to government programs, but that did not so smoothly implement Ryan’s scheme for a further redistribution of the wealth upward.)

“Shut it down!” screeched Ryan. “Shut it down!”

The Wisconsin congressman was determined to stop the voting process immediately.

Big Brother was not about to lose control of the process he had rigged to deliver for his political benefactors.

He needed to prevent a bold act of dissent that exposed his hypocrisy.

And he succeeded.

But not without revealing himself as an authoritarian who was not about to let his best-laid plans be upset by an act of creative rebellion.

Ayn Rand once wrote: “Neither power-lust nor stupidity are good motives.”

Paul Ryan’s power-lust was certainly on display Friday. As for stupidity, well, Ryan certainly thinks that most Americans, and most Republicans, are stupid enough to fall for his power grab.

He’s definitely wrong about the American people; polls show they are overwhelmingly opposed to any plans that assault Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.

"The obvious parallel in my mind is what happened after 9/11, when more or less the same people declared themselves totally focused on fighting terrorism — but unwilling to give up anything they wanted, and in fact eagerly using the terrorist threat as an excuse to grab even more goodies. I mean, within 48 hours of the attack Congressional Republicans were preparing their response: a cut in the capital gains tax; in the immediate aftermath, the Bush administration fought hard to keep airport security in private hands. Somehow, responding to terrorism only involved doing things the administration wanted to do anyway: invading Iraq, torturing people, tapping our phones, etc..

For what it’s worth, Obama is actually offering to make some sacrifices on the budget; call it political positioning if you like, but that’s infinitely more than his opponents are doing." Full Article Here | NYTimes

Janesville - Rock County: Ryan's Hometown On Path To Poverty

Janesville - Rock County: Ryan's Hometown On Path To Poverty

"Sunday's Janesville Gazette reported on the growing poverty facing Janesville's school children. Titled, Pupils feel pinch of poverty, the newspaper failed to touch on any of the possible causes for the decline and also left out scads of pertinent information. One item they left out is the number of homeless school children - over 350. Instead they wrote about the personal struggles of several Janesville students trying to keep their head above water, which isn't difficult to relate to considering this is Rep. Paul Ryan's hometown. To the newspaper's credit, they at least didn't try to hide one important number. The fact that nearly half of Janesville's school district kids live in poverty. You read that right. 47.3% of children in the Janesville school district are living in low-income homes. Of note is a percentage chart the newspaper produced that shows poverty among school children has been on a relentless upward trajectory since 2000, interestingly the beginning of Rep. Paul Ryan's occupation of our district seat in Congress."Full Article Here | Janesville - Rock County

The Truth About Paul Ryan | The Progressive

"His is the boyishly handsome face and cheery demeanor of free market fundamentalism—a philosophy that has devastated his own district with particularly acute suffering. And now, as the new chair of the House Budget Committee, Ryan promises more devastation for the rest of the nation.

“Paul Ryan is a phony and a disaster,” says John Dohner, president of Local 95 of the United Auto Workers in Janesville, Ryan’s hometown. “The people I know aren’t fooled by his smile or surprised by his votes. They see him as a slickster, not a friend.”"

Will the Public Blame Paul Ryan if There's a Shutdown? | Mother Jones

"Recent polling shows that more voters are inclined to blame Democrats than Republicans for a government shutdown. But the GOP may have shot itself in the foot by deciding to introduce Paul Ryan's controversial, entitlement-slashing budget plan for next year the very same week they move towards a shutdown."

ThinkProgress » Paul Ryan Does Wall Street’s Bidding In Budget

How Paul Ryan's budget is a huge gift for Wall Street

"But it also includes a gift for Wall Street, in the form of a repeal of the provisions of the Dodd-Frank financial reform law that protect taxpayers from having to bail out failed financial institutions. Here’s how the House Republicans framed their repeal effort:

Although the bill is dubbed “Wall Street Reform,” it actually intensifies the problem of too-big-to-fail by giving large, interconnected financial institutions advantages that small firms will not enjoy. While the authors of Dodd-Frank went to great lengths to denounce bailouts, this law only sustains them."

"SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (MarketWatch) — Yes, tax the Super Rich. Tax them now. Before the other 99% rise up, trigger a new American Revolution, a meltdown and the Great Depression 2.

Revolutions build over long periods — to critical mass, a flash point. Then they ignite suddenly, unpredictably. Like Egypt, started on a young Google executive’s Facebook page. Then it goes viral, raging uncontrollably. Can’t be stopped. Here in America the set-up is our nation’s pervasive “Super-Rich Delusion.”"
