Tikkun Daily Blog » Blog Archive » Occupy Wall Street Comes to San Francisco – How You Can Help
This is YOUR Movement
"The Occupy SF movement needs your help. There are currently people camping out in front of the Federal Reserve in downtown San Francisco at 101 Market Street (near Drumm). They’ll be there every day and every night and they need supplies. The most pressing needs are food, water, blankets, batteries (C&D), disposable phones with minutes and rain gear. Please join them on the streets, even if it is just for a few hours of moral support. Camp out with them if you can. Do what you can to spread the word. Tikkun Daily Blog | Full Article Here
Tuesday, October 4th, 2011 @ 7:00 p.m. at Cask Republic on Crown Street in New Haven, CT.

First public planning meeting:
Tuesday, October 4th, 2011 @ 7:00 p.m. at Cask Republic on Crown Street in New Haven, CT.
We have requested info from the Connecticut ACLU on CT and New Haven protest laws/ordinances. Hopefully an email will come from them before the meeting. If not, it is not the end of the world. We were late to the party, so to speak, so it will just take us longer to set up than New York or Boston or Chicago.

'Pleased' isn't the word - JSOnline
"Waukesha County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus said in a statement that she is "pleased" that a state investigation found that her counting error in last spring's Supreme Court race was simply "an honest mistake." We have no doubt that it was, but Nickolaus needs to pay attention to a couple of other items in the documents released this week.
She should be focusing on rebuilding the trust of voters by detailing to the public just what she's doing to avoid future mistakes." Full Article Here- JSOnline

Occupy Wall Street is leaderless resistance movement with people of many colors, genders and political persuasions. The one thing we all have in common is that We Are The 99% that will no longer tolerate the greed and corruption of the 1%. The original call for this occupation was published by Adbusters in July; since then, many individuals across the country have stepped up to organize this event, such as the people of the NYC General Assembly and US Day of Rage. There'll also be similar occupations in the near future such as October2011 in Freedom Plaza, Washington D.C.See More

"If the police think we’ll go home just because they’re making things difficult, then the police don’t know how difficult things are at home. I’m eating better here, with all the donations and stuff. Back in 2008, I was so depressed that I wanted to kill myself. The only thing that stopped me was I couldn’t figure out how to do it without hurting my family."
This is happening right now in our country, and around the world. Get to Wall Street, or find an occupation near you at occupytogether.org

What's Behind the Scorn for the Wall Street Protests? | Common Dreams
by Glenn Greenwald
"But for those who believe that protests are only worthwhile if they translate into quantifiable impact: the lack of organizational sophistication or messaging efficacy on the part of the Wall Street protest is a reason to support it and get involved in it, not turn one's nose up at it and join in the media demonization. That's what one actually sympathetic to its messaging (rather than pretending to be in order more effectively to discredit it) would do. Anyone who looks at mostly young citizens marching in the street protesting the corruption of Wall Street and the harm it spawns, and decides that what is warranted is mockery and scorn rather than support, is either not seeing things clearly or is motivated by objectives other than the ones being presented." HIGHLIGHTS.......
"In light of occupy philidelphia – I’ve been worked with improptue working group If you want to be part of this new working group, meet us after GA. WE want to talk about spreading movement to other occupied cities. Possible DC march or occupation.
I am going up in the following weeks to help set up occupy Boston. And want to start writing a manifesto if you will for how to set up GA s to plan for occupations. If interested, or any of the committes that are related, I want to speak to you.
Demands:
" We are going to go through a participatory process to develop these demands and visions together. It is very important that all voices are heard and we tried our best to make a process that includes all kinds of people equally. We should look at these demands as a way to include more ideas, not limit ideas, so that more people can find there home in this movement – we acknowledge that some people really want no demands at all. Its important for the sake of this movement to have some demands and visions voiced. But in the process we will continue to record that there are people who what no demands. So this process will include people who do not want demands. This process is important for outreach – so we can invite people from different communities, so we can amplify their demands – so that liberty plaza can become a place to discuss restructuring society. We can add demands as this movement progresses. A lot of people cannot be here – so we will have other ways for people to participate.
