On October 25 a group of people were arrested for silently filming the WI Assembly from the gallery. During the first of many arrests Capitol Police and WI State Troopers grope at Thi while walking her out of the gallery.

Thi was brought to jail and has a bail set at $1,000. She is not planning on paying her bail as a protest to her unconstitutional arrest.

At least 93 Milwaukee police officers have been disciplined for violating law - JSOnline

First of three parts

At least 93 Milwaukee police officers - ranking from street cop to captain - have been disciplined for violating the laws and ordinances they were sworn to uphold, a Journal Sentinel investigation found.

Their offenses range from sexual assault and domestic violence to drunken driving and shoplifting, according to internal affairs records. All still work for the Police Department, where they have the authority to make arrests, testify in court and patrol neighborhoods.

Officers who run afoul of the law often aren't fired or prosecuted, the newspaper found. Consider:

At least six officers disciplined by the department for illegal behavior suffered no legal consequences whatsoever. One was Reginald Hampton, accused of sexually assaulting two women he met on duty. Another was Mark Kapusta, suspended after a woman said he pointed a gun at her head during a drunken road-rage incident. Neither officer was charged or ticketed. Read Full Article Here- JSOnline

Since 2007, our private corporate thugs and elected officials have tried to pass a bill that would disenfranchise felons from employment. In 2011, they are at it again with AB 286 and SB 207 which would make it legal to refuse employment and terminate from employment because of a felony conviction. As stated in today's law, if the "criminal" act was in relations to the description of the job, then that would make it legal for de...nial. In regards to the newly exile paper work legislation, it wouldn't matter if the person was convicted for a minor non violent act, such as possession of drugs, or failure to pay child support. There will be no separation from a 1st time felon to a ex-con. These bills tell a person no matter what happened in their past, you may never have a chance to work and feed yourself in Wisconsin again. This only leads to a revolving door of revocation and increasingly high prison rates, where big business will make a profit off the backs of those who can not fend for themselves. Scott Walker promised he would create jobs for Amerikkka, but he never said he would wipe out a segment of the disproportionate unemployed percentage. By passing this law, it would make all felons ineligible for employment in the state of Wisconsin, which would then allow Scott Walker to say the unemployment percent dropped, when in reality it was just eliminated. These bills are not only wrong; these bills are against Human Rights. KILL AB286 & SB207 NO MORE OPPRESSION

"Alberta Darling trips over her words when attempting to say this bill isn't about discrimination."

It is worth noting that after Alberta Darling introduced SB207 to the Senate committee in Madison, Wi., she left the hearing and never returned to listen to any of the testimony. There were over over 5 hours of testimonies against the bill with only two people speaking briefly in favor of the bill. All those apposing the bill spoke with with compassion and evidence against the bill . There was a repeated request to hold a public hearing in Milwaukee from testifiers.

The big idea | Robin Hood Tax

The big idea | Robin Hood Tax

In a nutshell, the big idea behind the Robin Hood Tax is to generate billions of pounds – hopefully even hundreds of billions of pounds. That money will fight poverty in the UK and overseas. It will tackle climate change. And it will come from fairer taxation of the financial sector.

A tiny tax on the financial sector can generate £20 billion annually in the UK alone. That's enough to protect schools and hospitals. Enough to stop massive cuts across the public sector. Enough to build new lives around the world – and to deal with the new climate challenges our world is facing.

As a result of the financial crisis, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has calculated UK government debt will be 40% higher. That 40% equates to £737 billion pounds, or £28,000 pounds for every taxpayer in the country. Having to pay back that debt means cuts in vital services on which millions of people around the country rely. Read More Here Robin Hood Tax

Occupy - Vancouver Art Gallery

"As we watch the peaceful protest in New York City, "Occupy Wall Street", explode with massive amounts of people, and groups forming similar "Occupy" protests around the world, we must realize that it is time for us to stand up with them.

It is time to come together and educate each other. We will stand in solidarity with these other movements and we will create a platform for people to speak and provide an audience that will listen.

Let them gawk, let them ask questions, let them wake up.

We realize that our social, economic, and political structures are broken. This is more than just a protest "against" something. It is about coming together as people, acknowledging things are broken, and working together to fix them."

YaleNews | New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman to discuss ‘how America fell behind’

YaleNews | New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman to discuss ‘how America fell behind’

"Thomas L. Friedman, foreign affairs columnist for The New York Times and a Pulitzer Prize-winning author, will speak at Yale on Monday, Oct. 24, as a guest of the Yale Center for the Study of Globalization.

The event is co-sponsored by the Whitney Humanities Center and will take place at 4:30 p.m. in the center’s auditorium at 53 Wall St. It is free and open to the public.

Friedman will discuss his new book, “That Used to Be Us: How America Fell Behind in The World It Invented and How We Can Come Back,” which he co-wrote with Michael Mandelbaum, considered one of the leading foreign policy thinkers in the United States today.

He will outline his belief that America faces four major challenges, on which its future depends, and its failure to meet them. He will analyze those challenges — globalization, the revolution in information technology, the nation’s chronic deficits, and its pattern of energy consumption — and spell out what he thinks we need to do now to rediscover America and rise to this moment."
