The Low Road by Marge Piercy |Occupy Wall St.

Occupy Wall St.
But two people fighting
back to back can cut through
a mob, a snake-dancing file
can break a cordon, an army
can meet an army.
...
Two people can keep each other
sane, can give support, conviction,
love, massage, hope, sex.
Three people are a delegation,
a committee, a wedge. With four
you can play bridge and start
an organisation. With six
you can rent a whole house,
eat pie for dinner with no
seconds, and hold a fund raising party.
A dozen make a demonstration.
A hundred fill a hall.
A thousand have solidarity and your own newsletter;
ten thousand, power and your own paper;
a hundred thousand, your own media;
ten million, your own country.

It goes on one at a time,
it starts when you care
to act, it starts when you do
it again after they said no,
it starts when you say We
and know who you mean, and each
day you mean one more.

This text has been prepared by the Commission for Group Dynamics in Assemblies of the Puerta del Sol Protest Camp (Madrid). It is based on different texts and summaries which reached consensus in the internal Assemblies of this Commission (and which will be made available on the official webs of the 15th May Movement) and from the experiences gained in the General Assemblies held in this Protest Camp up until 31st May 2011.

Occupy Wall St.
One of our goals should be reclaiming our media! These are public airwaves! 2/3 of our country only receives right wing propaganda. Anywhere in the country you can hear multiple stations of pure right wing propaganda! Clear channel own's 90% of the radio stations. We need independent media!!!
    • Jacob Wischmeier Our media refuses to discuss the horrible free trade deals and their ramifications. Never mentions our criminal health care industry which is literally stealing our countries wealth. They lied to us in the run up to the Iraq and Afghanistan wars which are bankrupting our country. And have lied daily in their reporting of the invasion of Libya!

    • Chris Occupywallst Tawasi Clear Channel Communications, Inc. is a criminal enterprise they bought influence at the highest levels by getting their former ceo appointed to the head of the fcc, who then changed the laws to do away with media monopoly laws.

‎"Why isn’t any major news outlet covering this?" Good question.

Keith Olbermann pointed out Wednesday night on Countdown that the major newspapers had been ignoring the five-day-long “Occupy Wall Street” protests, but would have scrambled to cover a similar-sized tea party protest. “Why isn’t any major news outlet covering this?” he asked. “If that’s a tea party...

In the reddest state in the Union, Oklahoma, the most conservative newspaper, The Daily Oklahoman, picked up the Associated Press story of your protest and featured it at the top of their business section, including a picture of the protest, with the headline about seven people being arrested and the leg injury to one of the protesters. Word is spreading, even here in Oklahoma. Hang in there!

“Walkergate” Update: Archer Emails, and Van Hollen partisanship « Badger Democracy
bdgrdemocracy.wordpress.com
The Center for Media and Democracy released emails received from Open Records Request, detailing the high level of Cynthia Archer’s involvement in the Walker Administration. One of the Archer emails specifically contains a response to a request from Archer herself, on behalf of the Adminstration. Archer requests the top three overtime earners for state public employees. The corresponding spreadsheet shows that most of these public union employees are employed by the State Health Services (Nurse) or Department of Corrections (Corrections Officers). Scott Walker has long been on record as supporting privatization of Prisons AND State Health Services (especially health services in prisons). It is not difficult to connect the dots from Scott Walker’s agenda as County Executive/Governor to “pay-for-play” political promises of privatization. READ MORE | “Walkergate”

Does anyone have advice on how someone on the west coast might contribute?
    • Trevor Thorne spread the word. the world is watching

    • Chris Occupywallst Tawasi
      if you were thinking of contributing time and effort, use the @ symbol to tag media outlets, celebs and politicians like this CNN ABC News CBS News Comedy Central Justin Bieber Barack Obama tag them in posts that speak to our issues, like w...ar profiteering, bank rolled corporate lobbyists, cronyism supporting no bid contracts, and debt forgiveness for the people. the most important part in my mind is to share this group and the website with as many people as you can, whether in real life or online, tweet, share, and tag on both mediums, also share pictures, videos, and if you can make it to one of the actions in your area or organize one. it's going to take a lot of people doing something to make anything change.See More

While the mainstream media has been spending endless hours having producers cut clips from last night's shows, like 'Dancing with the Stars', and wasting air time talking about the entertainment world, let's remember something that's going on in our very real world right now. That's Occupy Wall Street, the protest that's been taking place since Saturday, September 17th where an estimated two thousand people came out. Now four days in, there are about 150 to 200 protesters who still remain camped out in Zuccoti Park, dubbed Liberty Plaza. At least five people have been arrested but the mainstream media remains not entertained.MSM: Occupy Wall St. - YouTube

I'm 64 years old and I spent a lot of the late 60's and early 70's on the streets fighting for civil rights, women's rights and ending the Vietnam War. I am so proud to see this generation stand up to the injustice that Wall St and the wealthy have brought. I may not be able to be in NY, but I will do everything that I can to get the main stream media to cover your fight. Stand tall and fight! Starting to feel good about America again.

The important point here to me is to raise awareness and wake up America. That is what these protesters are helping to do. Demands are nice, but the plutocracy is not going to meet any demands so they are not as important as people think. Once America wakes up to what is really going on, the rape of our country, where these rich jerks are setting up rigged games, basically sowing and reaping people and their lives, change is inevitable.
    • Vote with your pocketbook
      Change is also up to us. We must make demands by the way we live and spend. DO NOT buy anything not made in US, support only companies that are on US soil hiring US workers...or live without whatever is it! Buy local, support local business...es, bank with small credit unions, scale down, stop getting into debt. If we do not give them the money they use to enslave us, they will fail, but it takes informing people and THAT is why this protest is important. The plutocracy is afraid and they should be. We the people are a tidal wave and the sleeping giant is waking up slowly but surely.
